FAQ

Do I run all 26.2 miles at once?

No. In the CASA Kane County Progressive Marathon you complete 25 total  miles (running or walking) at your own pace  and schedule between now and race day.  You’ll then complete the last 1.2 miles with us on Race Day September 16 for a total of 26.2 miles.

How long is this marathon?

All marathons are 26.2 miles

How do I track my miles?

Download the Progressive Marathon Mileage Log here and track your walks and runs throughout the summer.  You don’t have to  use the log sheet or bring your log sheet race day or packet pickup, it’s to help you track your miles.

Can I participate and run or walk during the Fox Valley Marathon Races Training Runs during the summer?

Yes! The training runs will also include a 1 and 2 mile option for runners and walkers.  Any distance you run or walk during the summer counts towards your 25 miles before race day.

Can I run in one of the Advocate Healthcare Fox Valley Marathon Races and be in the CASA Kane County Progressive Marathon?

Yes. If you run any of the other Advocate Healthcare Fox Valley Marathon Races that day it can count as your last 1.2 mile run for the CASA Kane County Progressive Marathon. Participants will have to be registered for both events to receive both shirts, both medals, and their Finisher Certificate.   You’ll visit the Awards Tent after your FVM race to pick up your Progressive finisher medal and certificate.

Are there awards?

All participants will receive a marathon medal and finisher certificate upon completion of the last 1.2 miles on race day.

Does this count towards Fox Valley Marathon Races Endurance medals or the Triple Crown, Valley Ville Challenge?

No, this event is not part of those programs.

Is there a time limit?

Race Day’s final 1.2 mile run must be completed within 30 minutes.

How do I sign up?

Registration is open. Register online here. The CASA Kane County Progressive Marathon is open to ages 15+

There will be a registration fee of $25 until July 15th. After this date, the price will increase to $30.  This includes a race shirt, finisher medal, personalized race bib, tent, beer garden ticket (must be 21 to redeem) and finisher certificate upon successful completion on race day!

If I do all 26.2 miles but can’t be there race day can I still get my medal?

No, although the 25 miles prior to race day are on your own schedule the final 1.2 at the event are required to complete the Progressive Marathon and receive your medal and finisher certificate.

How will I hear more about the event?

You will be emailed monthly newsletters. If you do not receive one, confirm your registration here or contact us at progressivemarathoninfo@fv26.com

Are there training groups I can join?

Yes! Please contact Dick Pond Athletics for information on their Walk-To-Run program or Geneva Running Outfitters for information on their GRO Right Start program. Runners are also welcome to join the free Fox Valley Marathon Test Drives on the Fox River Trail.

Can a family member run with me on race day?

No, for safety purposes only official bibbed runners will be allowed to run the event. Limited family members can join you on the Illinois Street Bridge and cross the finish line with you.

Can I run with my dog on race day?

Yes! Walking or running with your dog during the summer is a great way to log miles, and we would like to encourage that by allowing all participants of the CASA Kane County Progressive Marathon’s final 1.2 mile run to have their dog run with them on race day. Out of respect to other runners, we do ask that participants do not bring dogs into Race Village and line up with their dog at the back of the starting corral. Please note, entry is not needed or permitted for dogs. They must be leashed at all times and kept away from other dogs and runners. Walkers/runners with dogs must bring bags to clean up after their dog immediately and dispose of any waste in a garbage can. Dogs are not permitted in the food tent, beer garden or race village.

Are Strollers Allowed?

Yes, please line up in the stroller corral after the walkers and runners.

Is this Part of the Fox Valley Marathon Races?

The CASA Kane County Progressive Marathon is its own independent event that takes place simultaneously with the Fox Valley Marathon Races. There will be a separate location to pick up you bib event morning, (you may also pick up your bib at the Fox Valley Marathon Races expo on Friday or Saturday). The race will begin 25 minutes after the Fox Valley Marathon Races.
